Rye
Rye is a typical cereal grain. Rye kvass is made from grain, flour is produced mainly for bread, starch is obtained, and it is also used as a raw material for the production of alcohol.
Rye is one of the most widespread (after mustard) and the most valuable siderates. It effectively suppresses weeds and plant diseases, surpassing other known green manure in this property due to its particularly rapid development. Rye has a strong structuring (loosening) effect on loamy soils, making them lighter and more permeable. In addition, it partially displaces various pests (especially nematodes), except for the wireworm, which, on the contrary, attracts rye.
